The story was anti-climactic, but that's mainly because Morrison is pushing against the editorial constraints, and it's hard to tell whether the results are ever going to stick. Past experience suggests not, even when (as in the case of the Guardian) the "new" version is more interesting than the old. Maybe they could spin off a Morrisonverse, since that's what he appears to want?

In terms of the story itself - well, it was great, wasn't it? It was fun, there was some good moments that you'll remember, some interesting new ideas and characters. I think a lot of people believe Morrison's stuff is deeper than it is because it's so dense - but sometimes the density is all it is. At least he writes comics worth reading, even if he doesn't bother to answer all his own questions....

I couldn't agree more, Chris. I almost wish DC would publish a "Cliff's Notes" version of this arc so I could understand evertything that was going on. I don't mind being challenged while reading, but only if it's worth the effort. There was no such payoff here.
I only hope that with the upcoming absence of Batman in real time, we get to some "Casebook Files" of the Caped Crusader, encompassing tales of all of his prior incarnations.
